I was reading my Maximum PC magazine, and it says in the Moral Compas, that a womans account in World of Warcraft was banned, because her guild was Gay-Friendly. Quote: "Advertising sexual orientation is not appropriate for the high fantasy setting of the World of Warcraft and is therefore not permited" I'm not going to take sides, but apparently, she put up one heck of a fight, and Blizzard appoligized to her, and now her guild continues to thirve.. However, Maximum PC rated this Illegal to promote Gay-Friendly guilds, and they say it is 85% wrong. Anyone agree of disagree? Share your thoughts...
@K2skatn ... frankly, I don't even know what your post means, but sure sounds like bigotry plain and simple.
i think you'll find that blizzard although they may have apologised to her are in the middle of a court case for discrimination.......
I think this is a misquote...I've read the same article and I believe it said that "it is illegal to discriminate against Gay-Friendly guilds." So what is your stance on the subject, or are you just trying to stir the pot?
You guys got a link to the article? My kid and her 'little guild' didn't hear about this - probably cause they spend too much time on WoW Me - I'm against banning/discriminating someone no matter where it is - real life or internet - based on sexual orientation.
It will probably be on their site next month...I have a subscription so I'm a month ahead. Here are a couple of articles I found: http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=4606 http://www.innewsweekly.com/innews/?class_code=Ga&article_code=1172
I, Personally think it is is wrong... I do not know really what context this is all in, but I base my views upon one thing. This is a game! I do not see where or how one's sexuality comes into it! But, Before people form their views about it, you have to ask yourself "Would I feel the same way if this wasn't gay orientated." If so then I think your views are valid. But honestly people it's not about being Gay/Straight.... it's a game, not some sleazy chat room.
