As your discs are 4x speed I guess they are CD-RWs, not CD-Rs. Many standalone CD players can't play back CD-RWs. Use CD-Rs instead. Maybe you have to try different brands until you find one that works with your CD-Player.

Please stay on topic - audio board here ... . I recommend reading (and searching) the board(s) that fit to the format of the movies you're talking about (VCD - DivX ...?)

For burning audio I've always used Nero and found that to be the best. It creates a disc using disc at once mode and leaves the completed disc ready for use in a Hi-Fi or whatever else.

nero is good but if you have two drives then something like cd copier is the best cuz you can put the audio cd and blank cd in at the same time and it takes about 4 mins to finish

Depending on what drives your using obviously, but with Nero using copy on the fly you can write an audio disc from start to finish in 2 mins 40secs.

As far as finalizing goes, Nero should do that automatically. Just before writing the disc, after hitting that little fire icon at the top of the screen, under the "burn" tab there are checkboxes for "write" and "finalize CD". Make sure they're both checked.

Easy CD Creator should do it automatically too. There is an option under the file menu for it, but by default it should be on.

Hey, I've created many "back-up" copies of divx, etc movies yet when i go to play them it says either device is not ready or tells me to put a cd in the drive. Almost like it hasnt finalized the cd altho i cant find anywhere for it to do so. Under the file menu there is an option to finalize but it is greyed out...

You shouldn't need to finalise a data disk as the drive will always read what it wrote. It's only audio discs that need to be finalisd as that then creates a table of contents (T.O.C.) and without it a cd player wouldn't be able to read the disc. You should be able to read divx or any other data from the disc so there must be something else wrong with your burn process, what software are you using and what media?
