Here's a fun one, I build and optimize PC's for people on a regular basis, but it's really throwing me off, despite my experience. I just upgraded my own system(Bout friggin' time too): AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1gb(Single stick) PQI 3200 ram BFG GeForce 7300gt w/256mb Audigy 2 Platinum ABit Nforce 4 mobo These are really the only things that have much affect on performance, so they're all I listed. I used to play BF2 on my old system, with mid-high range settings(No AA, but everything else good) and now when I try to play it with my new rig, it has all KINDS of issues, I'll just complile my current experience here, and I'm hoping someone can wade through this for me, because after scouring the net(and AD forums), I got nothing. When I start up, I get the option to connect, by selecting my profile, and hitting the 'log in' button. It takes about two minutes 'connecting' while the "2" spins. Then, without ever bringing up a dialogue or a list of servers; it connects me to a completely random server, and procedes to load. Loading literally takes 5-6 minutes, sometimes more. Upon loading, it seems to default to medium settings, with a bad lag effect that is rather annoying. It shouldn't take remotely this long to load, my old system ran the game much better than this, and it was by no means an "A" grade system. Everything else I've tried runs better on this by leaps and bounds, but BF2 is giving me so many problems. Oh, and the last time I tried to load it, menus came up in funky colors, the textures looked washed out and pixelated, certain background elements were flickering in and out, and it was (for unknown reasons, because I was on an online server) giving me a verbal tutorial. The game is updated to 1.3, and I have the expansions (The retail Special Forces, and both online Armored Fury and Euro Warfare boosters) but it just seems to have a LOAD of issues. I'm not having issues with any other software, but this is just driving me nuts. I don't want to hear about what someone else 'would' have bought, because it's not what I have, and it doesn't help me. I just want some honest help with what (I hope someone perceives as) a simple problem. Thanks again!
Okay, the performance issues simply stopped. Completely. I have no idea what happened, nothing was running in the background, that has to be the strangest thing. Now I just have that whole 'auto-connecting' issue, that's bugging me. And if anyone knows how to speed up the load screens, that would be great too. Thanks in advance!
