    Hello,

I am having problems with Battlefield 2 running on Windows Vista. I installed the game and the core game runs fine. The problem is that everybody else is running about 6 patches above me and I can't install any of them on this piece of edited by ddp operating system. When they install, Battlefield 2 crashes straight back to the desktop, but, when you delete the patched folder for the game and replace it with a back up of the original, the game launches and runs fine. Can someone please give me some help and help me get this game updated so that I can play along with everyone else and be able to use mods for this game. Should I jsut abandoned Windows Vista all together in favor of Windows 7 or will I still have the same problem? Thanks in advance.

post edited due to language. check game manufacturer for faq, patches & updates in relation to your version of vista.

That is real nice. I wait 2 days for someone to answer my post and when someone does, it is to edit my post for foul language and to tell me the obvious of checking with EA. I have already checked with EA and they have no answers. None of the patches that are out work with Vista because they are made for Windows XP. It would be nice if someone here could actually help with this problem instead of sniffing around in posts looking for cuss words to edit out.

i wasn't sniffing around for cuss words, i was responding to an offensive report about your thread so knock it off. if the game is not made for vista but only xp then what does that tell you?

For someone to file an offensive report about one cuss/swear word that was directed at anybody, rather at an operating system that isn't worth the plastic case that it is sent in to retailers, is pretty pathetic. I wasn't being rude, nor was I trying to be mean, just stating my opinion, about the operating system. As far as the game not being made for Vista and what that tells me.....I wasn't aware that manufacturers released software now adays geared toward one operating system or the other. This isn't XBOX 360 or Playstation 3, it's Windows, which every single piece of software for it is advertised as being for "Windows"......not XP ONLY, Vista ONLY, Windows 7 ONLY and god forbid if someone was trying to use software that was put out for 95 or 98....in your opinion, from what you stated to me, they would just be "Stupid". My point is, if I hurt someone's feelings by saying the word that I said, that was not my intention, but if you have no further advice other that "It was made for XP, so what does that tell you?" then move on, let someone else take a swing at answering the question with a little more helpful info.

you have a 2 week holiday to cool off. not all programs & hardware works with newer versions of windows. seen it with xp, see it with vista & presumably with win7 tho maybe not as much as vista.
