There were 2 new discs released last Tuesday that were BD Live 2.0: The 6th Day and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. As a follow up to an earlier post in a news thread we decided to test these new 2.0 discs on our Profile 1.0 players. I have the Panasonic DMP-BD10 and I have a couple of friends with the Sony BDP-S300 and the Samsung BD-P1400. We tested the following discs with 2.0 features: Saw IV (Lionsgate) Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (Sony Pictures) The 6th Day (Sony Pictures) We're pleased to report that the movies on all three 2.0 discs played fine on all three 1.0 machines. The main features and the non-1.1/2.0 extras all played without a hitch. Loading times were not much different from the other non-2.0 releases. I was particularly impressed by the Dolby True HD soundtrack on The 6th Day. To access the BD-Live 2.0 features we used a Playstation 3 updated to software version 2.20. No problems to report here either. Connection times were a bit sluggish and downloading HD trailers from the Sony server was on the slow side. However, this is similar to the experience I had with internet enabled features on some HD DVD discs on my XA2. So in summary, the movies on all 2.0 discs played fine on the 3 1.0 players that we tested.
Thanks for the report dblbogey7. djkrishna: Both 300 and NCfOM don't have 1.1 or BD-Live 2.0 extras. http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/886/300.html http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1296/nocountryforoldmen.html
