Got a blu-ray drive in my PC today and am now looking for a blu-ray player. That is, I want to play BR discs directly, not to rip them to the hard drive. Any suggestion about what player should I get? Strangely, info on BD players on the internet is scarce or outdated. This article sheds some light on the topic, but I prefer actual user feedback. Thanks to anyone responding.
Did your drive not come w/ software? Anyway you can install the kpac lite codec and watch your blurays on vlc and wmp11. When /if you install kpac lite set the ffshow to decode VC-1.
vlc can play discs without ripping them to the hdd? I thought there is encryption or whatnot involved.
I told ya wrong. I tried to play an orginal BD w/ vlc and it would'nt work. Powerdvd, and totalmedia have BD versions. If your able to DL Dell mediadirect it has a BD version.
so dose vlc play bd or not im getting one in a barter. i have 5.1 speakers so will vlc play it or do i have to buy power dvd??? Alice

This article sheds few insufficient on the message, but I upgrade factual soul feedback. Web Design Company
Babyalice I have to say no. When I responed to this thread I was certain I've played orginal BD's w/ vlc. I'm sorry for my bad advice.
Craig1984, yea I know what ya mean. My BD-wr cam$e w/ my dell and it came w/ dell's BD mediadirect. Everybody I know that's bought a drive and everyone I've bought came w/ media player to play media. Babyalice, seeing how your tradeing for you drive see if they will pass the software on w/ it.
