Gentlemen and women. I have used this forum for about two years now and have to say the for the first time I am seeing everyone's frustration coming to the forefront and is not very nice. I have read multitudes of threads looking for my answers to my dbox2 problems and have witnessed a nasty trend.

Newbies and some junior members are coming on in a state of panic looking for answers and help. Some senior and not so senior members are been quite abrupt in the answers to these people. Simply telling them to go and read a thread and not telling them where the relevant one is - is not right. Telling them to stop wasting time and read the threads is not right. I agree if they have half an hour they can trawl through threads and find the answers or lack of as the case may be.

I want to say that when a person comes on with a question asking what is going on, is there a solution ..... don't just say go read...... either a) give them the links like some members have and wish them luck reading 20 - 30 pages of info or b) give them the answer and relevant link if you know it or c) just ignore the thread and don't reply - what's the point if you are just going to be short and nasty.

For what its worth I appreciate everything that this forum has done for me over the years and if I was technically capable I would contribute back. I don't like the snappiness that is creeping in. We arr all frustrated but don't let that take over. Remember everyone was once a naive newbie . Now some of use are Naive Junior members. Be Nice and remember where you once started out from.

Now, I don't mean to be short with my reply to you on this.

But you say that 'if you were technically capable' you would contribute back.

Most of the queries that you refer to do not need technical capabilities, they merely need to read threads that are already there or use the search button to find the threads they need.

So if you could search for these people and post the links on their query thread, surely this would be a help? And it would also allow the more 'technically capable' members time to work on the more technical queries ?

For my two cents - this forum is full of useful contributors and that when I read threads I generally see answers to questions from the senior members. The frustration with the newbies is justified due to the ignorance most show when they come online asking for cod*s or updates, getting threads closed but simply aren't willing to spend 30 mins reading up etc.

If people just used the search tool for what they are looking for it will save them time also instead of waiting for someone to answer. A lot of people are coming straight on asking ridiculous questions for which the answer is on the last thread before they posted but quite clearly they just haven't bothered reading it.

    @ Brock8769
you are lucky that the senior members actually take the time in replying to these type of questions, if as you say you have being on this site over the last couple of years then you would have seen the responses we gave, however of late its the same stupid questions that are being asked and sometimes answered, it has got to the stage that most of the seniors dont/ wont even bother coming on line to help as it has just got to the stage that we have so many "experts" giving out false information that basically I for one have giving up!!
The answer to the current situation is that there is no answer, but people for some reason un knowns to us just cant understand this... 99% of all questions answered over the years were answerable but at the moment no one knows whats going on....... so its out of pure frustration that some people are being abrupt with there answers because the same thing is being asked over and over, sometimes 20 times a day!!!

    END OF RANT!!

You see I have provided a service where you can all rant and get it off your chests.

I know it is frustrating. I am tired of trawling through tonnes of crap to just find the same answers. I have been the lucky recipient of solutions in the past and fully appreciate all the contributions of the members especially you desB who has helped me many times over the years. I just thought that while it is very annoying they should either be ignored or given the answer. Not snapped at. Why would a newbie come back to what is the best forum going if treated like a leper.

Anyway it was just a thought that in a time when everything is shite that at least we could try and be nice. I'm off to see if the cartoon network still works on my dbox so my son wont be crying for Ben 10 later.

it pays to read and check a forum your gonna post on, rules, existing posts etc, regardless of the subject, to see if an answer has been given to a specific problem,

what ya have here is a mass hysteria by certain people who think that their issues justifys other peoples immediate attention, they post and post again, hijack other peoples threads to get some one to answer em, dont bother to read the other god knows how many threads that are more or less the same thing, but wonder why they get a short sharp answer............ amazes me.

Why would ya give some one a link when its on the forum in the fist place staring at em! if they done the above ya wouldnt need to answer the same question time and time again,

I have always been polite to members on the forum regardless of their member status.
But like the lads above, Ive had enough of people posting the same stuff day in day out, when it is in black & white in front of them.

As for new members, there has been an influx of new members giving out wrong advice to people on numerous occasions in the last few months (as Des pointed out above).

Maybe you dont feel the frustration, but spare a thought for some of us who have to put up with this everytime we log on to AD.

    Noely.

Good to see you desB :)

I've given up answering here because the simple answer is there is no answer. And people refuse to believe that, they just go on asking the same things over and over.

They want to believe that somebody knows what will happen so they will listen to any old rubbish, even though all the addicts and senior members are telling them that nobody knows whats going to happen.

I think iv'e posted one or two questions on this forum since i joined ,and they were within threads that had already been started, anything else i needed to know was found reading existing threads or by using the search facility. The reason for this?because i took the time to read the rules first, and did not find it necessary or mannerly to annoy members who had already answered my problems elsewhere.
