Havn't played my Xbox360 for about 2 years due to a red ring, and i didnt have the cash on hand to get it repaired. Are burned games still able to be played online? I'm currently using Xbox Backup Creator 2.9 to burn games, but havnt tried to play one yet, just using my originals. However, a few of them are getting a little too scratched to play, and i just don't want to get banned from xbox live all together. (I know there will always be a risk of getting banned, but just need to know if there is any bigger of a risk now, than there was 2 years ago.)

    Thanks

The risk is kinda high right now as the latest "live safe" firmware was just recently released. To be "safe" you need LT, ssv2 and splitvid. Going by that should make you as safe as possible right now. I guess we will all see how safe it really is when the next wave comes around.

So what you are saying is i need to reflash my drive with new firmware? Will i need the original to reflash it? and i have no idea what you mean by LT, SSV2 and splitvid. like i said, i've been outta the game for the last couple of years. How about "old" games that I have burned. Are they still at risk or is it only the "newer" games?

LT is the new firmware. SSV2 is a way of stealthing games. Splitvid is a way of padding games. You need LT to be safe, so yes you need to reflash. Your old games need to be checked using abgx to ensure they are safe to play.

But do i need my original firmware to reflash the drive? or does it just modify/update it?

Why would you need the original to overwrite the existing one with a new one?

I don't know anything about 360 modding at the moment so if I'm wrong I'll punch myself in the nuts for coming off as rude.

You don't need to have your "original" but you need the firmware thats currently on the drive as it has the key saved into it. Once you have that you can just flash your drive. If you don't have a lite-on or benq then it's rumored that non stealth firmwares are the safest on live as they don't take the extra time to check stealth on discs.

Alright. I dont have a Lite-on or Benq drive. If I remember right i have the Samsung drive. So I will download the new firmware and flash it. Now burning my games... is Xbox Backup Creator still good? or is there a new program that works better?

Disregard... its the Hitachi-LG GDR3120L not the Samsung drive.

Yes its fine, if you use a kreon drive to rip your games you need to make sure you find the ssv2 security sector file to patch it.

ok, sorry to sound like i have no idea what you are talking about, bu i have no idea what you are talking about. I just looked through all the options of XBC, and couldn't find anywhere a SSV2. Is it under Drive tools? Drive tools?

Like I've said, I have been out of the game for a couple of years, and havn't kept up on all the new and improved ways of doing things.

Kreon drives can't do ssv2, thats why when you rip it you will have to find the files online and patch them in.
