Belzar - Worlds first Ps3 Mod Chip

For a while, it seemed that sony would put a bunch of PS2 classics on the PSN store...I figured this was why the backwards compatability was removed...but then they backed out on their promise to re-release these old games as download-only versions...they didn't even rerelease GTASA or GT4...two of the biggest games from the PS2.

Realisticly, there is nothing other than the time & work involved that is preventing anyone from writing a "Other OS" that does nothing but play PS2 games. It would not work on the slimline, but only because of sony's locks. IF sony wanted to include PS2 support, it would be even easier for them...but they don't seem to care.

 

I have the EU 60gb with the BWC and only recently i've played 2 PS2 games GOW1+2 and from what i've seen PS3 didnt had even the slightest problem playing them, the fans didnt gone up not once, no frane breaks nothing, i cant remember to compare the loading times tho, but the BD drive was loading without stretching at all, like it does sometimes with motorstorm 2.

IMO sooner or later they will bring back the BWC.
Maybe when they kill PS2?
Maybe only via PSN? or the may have another plan, to release PS2 games to Blu ray disc's as game packs/collection, like they did with god of war 1+2.
You can feat more or less 10 PS2 games to a Dual-layer Blu-ray disc.
I would really like a Resident Evil collection or a Legacy of Kain Pack.

 

Sorry I have to retract on my promise..lol.

I recently talked to a friend who sells modded consoles. He told me that nobody is working on modding the PS3 because the price of a blue-ray disc is way too high. If there is a police bust (he's talking about big time pirates) these guys would lose a fortune. A blank blue-ray disc is about 8 times more expensive than a blank dvd dl disc. Also think of all the modders who've invested heavily on their PS3 backups and one day find their console banned.

So I won't be getting a PS3 next year after all.

 

I dont mean to offend you, but your friend is an idiot, i have said it a million times, the PS3 not being hacked has nothing to do with Blu Ray being too high, it is the PS3's security and nothing else, once it is cracked, the lamers who pirate games wont care about the price of Blu ray disc's.

Also on the PS2 emulation front, this will be a hard fete to be accomplished on non BC PS3's, all the BC consoles that run software emulation, have the RSX chip in them, non BC consoles dont have this.

 

No offence taken. But from my point of view I would think twice before modding a PS3. Assuming that the price of a legit XBox game is similar to a legit PS3 game, a XBox backup would cost around 5% of a legit. For a PS3 it would come to 25%. If the price difference between a backup and a legit is not that great I would definitely stick with going legit.

In fact I've just gone legit with my XBox after being banned 2 days ago. I don't know what to do with my 30 or so XBox backups now, lol.

It just makes no sense to be BWC via software for many reasons and you are the 1st to see posting this.
Every were i searched everyone says that the EU 60gb is BWC via SW.

 

I hear the ban is just for Xbox Live, ie the online stuff, you can still play your backup games, just not with your friends over the internet.

 

The day I got banned I took my modded console back to the shop where I bought it 3 months ago. They helped me install a brand new MB for $50 (the new type that has an extra 512MB internal memory unit...is this the Jasper everyone is talking about?). So I now only have one legit box. Maybe I'll sell my lot of backups on ebay for $10...hahaha.

On a side note. I bought GOW2 yesterday. I had my old hdd formatted (just in case) and thought I had lost all my old gamesaves. Surprise surprise. When I went online with my new GOW2 I found my gamesaves were there. I've never heard anything like this on these forums. So all is not lost.

 

That is true, the 60GB does have software, BUT, it also has the GSX chip, which the 40GB, non BC 80GB, 120GB and slim models dont have.

apparantley, a leaked document was discovered that hints that sony is planning to release a ps2 emulator for ps3 on the PSN. Then ALL ps2 games are to be avaiable for download from PSN.
