Hey Just wondering others opinions... I just picked up the BenQ 1610 on sale last week at Futureshop and now this week they put the LG GSA-4120B on sale for $129 CDN, this one does DL. Just wondering if I should keep my 1610 or return it for the LG?
I personally wouldn't recommend any sort of LG drive. If you want a DL burner I'd look to either Pioneer or Lite-On
I would. Lets put it this way. Of all the people I've helped that are having problems getting a drive to work the bulk of those people were using either an LG or an Optorite.
Hmmm k....I bought the extended maintenance on mine so can take it back one they run out of the Benq 1610 model and they will have to give me the next best thing...which will probably be a DL by that time!
Anyway the request was between the two listed, not a "Which DVD writer should I buy". Thanks anyway though for the response .
I too purchased the 1610 at FS. All the 16xx series from Benq are rated very well with excellent burn quality, bitsetting and media compatability. The big plus with the LG 4120 is DVD-RAM and DL but the downside is less media compatability. If you buy decent media, it's not an issue. BTW, you can buy the 4120 for $109 at most computer shops.
