Is it necessary to upgrade BenQ 1650 firmware from BCFC to BCHC to burn DL -R DVDs? The media is expensive enough that I prefer not to experiment. TIA.
Hi, I suggest sticking with BCFC. Although I use BCHC, it is a bit hit & miss. IMO BCFC is a more flexible f/w.
The BenQ USA web site is still listing BCDC as the latest firmware upgrade. http://www.benq.us/ServiceAndSupport/Drivers/drivers.cfm?product=817 ... I don't know of any advantage to BCFC or BCHC at this point. Maybe Zabadee can explain.
Thanks zebadee. StanH1000, my BenQ 1650 was just shipped from the factory with BCFC installed. I believe it is the present preferred f/w.
StanH1000 reply said that was the Benq USA web site. That's new to me, I have always gone to this site which includes firmware BCHC for the 1650. http://support.benq.com/front/BenqM...language=all&flag=1&GenMenu=&RootId=undefined What part of BenQ is this?
Yep,, double cheched again today. The USA site is only listing BCDC. http://www.benq.us/ServiceAndSupport/Drivers/drivers.cfm?product=817 .. Could it be that newer firmware is for media not available in US?. I don't even know where to download BCFC and the jury is still out on BCHC. In the meantime, the 1650 burner works great with the BCDC.
Everything is working fine for me. Therefore, not taking any chances on fidddling with something that is good already. Will upgrade when there is a clear advantage provided by a stable firmware tried by others. Jury still out on BCHC.
