    Hi there!

I would like to know if the Benq burner model DW-1640 is still being manufactured, either the retail one or the oem one, because i thought the manufacture of such model was discontinued a while ago but i just found an online seller who's selling a brand new one with manufacturing date June 2007 written on the writer,it's an oem. Here's the link, just have a look at the pictures, just ignore the chinese writings or if you want you can just get it translated by google translate.

The price looks really very cheap to me(approx.USD23)and looks like a very very good deal but the only intriguing thing is the date of manufacture. So just want to confirm which one has stopped being manufactured, the retail one or the oem one or both and the burner is just a fake?Let me what you think about that guys or gals.I already have 4 burners,1 Benq DW-1650,1 PLextor PX-760A,1 LG 4167B and 1 Pioneer 111D.I know the DW-1640 is well-known to be a very good burner, that's the reason i want to confirm if the one i saw there is a real one or not.

    Thanks.

    Vincent.

Yeah i think you're right ZoSoIV,i better stay away from that.It really looks fishy as the price seems too good to be true and we all know how these online chinese sellers know how to trick people. Thanks for your input.

BenQ hasn't made a burner in over 1-1/2 years. I wouldn't go near the one that you posted.

Looking at the firmware versions it has 2 different ones in the Nero scan.I'd call it a scam. Chris
