Hello my burner is, to me, not that wonderful. I inserted a blank DVD Verbatim +R, it burns OK. When inserted back in drive it now tells me to insert cd in drive. Is the blank Verbatim DVD+R not compatable or is it the burner f**king it self? PS: WinXp w/SP2, Nero 7
Does it still recognize your blank verbs as dvd+r? Does it do this all the time? How do those backups look on your stand alone player/s? Can you still burn another blank dvd +r verbatim successfully? What is the speed rate of those verbs? actual MID code would be handy. How fast did you burn them? What programs did you use? Did you booktype them to dvd-rom? I see 2 possible scenarios. If it no longer recognizes your blank verbs: 1)Go into device manager under dvd-cd rom/rw drives. Open up the benq 1640/click drives/and uninstall. Now reboot and see if those dvds will be recognized. 2) Now if it occurs on all of the benq 1650 backups, not recognizing them, but still recognizes the blanks-then the drive is having trouble with the plus format, making it a compatability issue. You can bypass this: If they are not booktyped, use the utility called qsuite 2.0. Set it up to booktype your +r/+rw/and +r DL to dvd-rom. This will make them more compatable for more dvd drives. I am a big BenQ fan. I have 2 1620s and a 1640 and these babies will booktype like a dream.Plus format only, and you have to use qsuite 2.0 Compatability on stand alones/pc drives/and game consoles are phenomenal after booktyping. Much better than the regular plus and dash format. Another thing about benqs, they burn those +16x verbs better at 8x and 12x speed. You can't burn those MCC-004 verbs at 2.4x or 4x,more errors. They also overburn most 8x media at 12x and 16x.If your burn settings are set on max, then they may be overburning. That's another great feature of q-suite. You can set it up to burn to the speed rate of the disc, and no more overburning. Very nice and valuable program and you can get it here=it's free: http://support.benq.com/front/BenqM...langu=null&ops=null&GenMenu=&RootId=undefined Download the zip folder of qsuite 2.0 After downloading, look for the booktyping tab. Being unfamiliar with the 1650,I'm not sure of what features of qsuite you'll have, but the booktyping should be on it. BCDC is the latest firmware update. The firmware controls the write strategy. It may also affect issues like this. You may have to update it. Edit: Took a short time to find, but finally found the qsuite programs!
When i purchased the burner it never reads a blank verbatim +R. But other types works fine. I think its the dvd+r itself.
Try downloading qsuite 2.0. It should tell you the MID code of those verbs,as well as your firmware version. Are those Verbatim +4x/+8x/or +16x? BCDC is the latest that I am aware of,but not sure where to download it from. What's your version?
Hi, BenQs' f/w BCDC sets DVD+R to DVD-ROM by default. I've never experienced this but you could try setting DVD+R to DVD+R.This can be done via QSuite. Also download QSuite 2.1 rather than 2. 2.1.http://support.benq.com/files/Storage/Software/QSuite/QSuite%20v2.1%20Setup.zip & the manual for QSuite. http://support.benq.com/front/BenqM...langu=null&ops=null&GenMenu=&RootId=undefined For DVDRW f/w http://support.benq.com/front/BenqM...language=all&flag=1&GenMenu=&RootId=undefined
Those verbatim +8x should code as MCC-003. This is the best media for all 3 of my benqs.Top notch stuff! Getting harder to find them.
I have no problem burning any dvds, but the main problem is that windows does not detect the +R. Data written to the disc is OK. But after burning process is over; windows says: "D:\is not accessible. Incorrect Function."
That is a compatability issue. This is like a no disc/empty disc error. Those discs are ok.Your drive doesn't recognize those plus backups, therefore windows or any other program won't recognize that a disc is in the drive: It can be very simple: Download qsuite 2.0 from my earlier links open up the program You may get a warning, ignore it and click ok select the benq 1650 as the drive in case you have dual drives Click modify-right side of screen, and set dvd+r/dvd+rw/and dvd+rw to modify. Then you'll see where it says current write booktype,it should state dvd-rom for all three,in blue letters after a successful change. You want all 3 set to booktype and click out of it. Try burning another verbatim +8x. After the burn, try playing it in that 1650 drive and I'll bet it will recognize them after that. These booktype settings should stay the same after you set them. Another option, try the dash format. My benqs definitely have a harder time with the dash, and so do all my stand alone players/pc drives/and game consoles. Booktying those verbs should take care of that issue! Edit: Here's some pics. First is the main screen for q-suite 2.0: Here's the screen for booktype management. Make sure your setting say dvd-rom where my very, very squiggly red circle is:
HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! THANK UUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was about to through this 'was junk' in the bin. But u rescued me. It finally works, i can now read those +r's. Thankx again, ur a true pal!! Peace..........
No problem Stammah: Someone mentioned to me in another benq post that the 1650 and 1655 automatically booktyped with no need for q-suite. I guess yours wasn't. I'm still learning on those newer benqs just like you are, LOL Here's another program to make sure those backups are booktyped: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm For some reason, qsuite won't tell me that mine are booktyped, but dvdidentifier does. Insert backup/click identify/look where it says Media-Dvd+r and next to it booktype. It should say dvd-rom. Try checking some of you other backups that had issues. What are the options that you have for qsuite 2.0 with that 1650? Overburn protection? Sounds like the booktyping works? qscan? WOPC? Solid burn? Test Burn? I was just curious. I have 7 tabs on my 1640 and only 5 tabs on my 1620s. That drive may be my next burner? Good Luck!
