So my BENQ DW1655 drive finally gave it up. I need a replacement.. I know that the newer BENQ drives are not advisable. Is Plextor still at the top of its game or is that out now too? I see a lot of threads about lite-on anymore but I had one of their drives a long time ago and it was the worst drive I ever had.. I guess maybe they've made a lot of improvements since then. How about the Pioneer drives? Basically.. what are people considering the best now? I’m also possibly considering purchasing a Blu-Ray drive along with the DVDRW..
Plextor drives are rebadged Pioneer drives with an NEC chipset so don't pay the extra just get a Pioneer good drives to consider are in order 1. Pioneer 2. Lite-On 3. Samsung
The Pioneer DVR-212 sata drive is very good http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005371&prodlist=nextag if you don't want sata get the Pioneer DVR-112 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005375 you might check the price at newegg.com and tigerdirect also
My 1655 also just went out, alot of missed burns on the new looking Verbs +R. I was also looking around and many people are buying Phillips' also. Guess BenQ was using Phillips so look at that. I'm currently looking at Phillips and LiteOn
