I just installed my newly purchased BenQ DW1655 w/Lightscribe. I am wondering what is SolidBurn and how do I turn it on.

Also how do I found out what firmware I have and, how do I update it. If so what should I update it with and from where. It burns at from what I saw an average of 3.5-4X although it says it burns a DVD+R at 16X. Any ideas?

    Thanks In Advance!

Okay I just answered my own question I have the BCHB firmware. Although on the BenQ site it looks as if the latest firmware is BCDB although on this website (http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=1298) it looks as if I have latest firmware update. Maybe someone can explain.

I still am wondering how to turn on SolidBurn, and why it is burning DVD+R at around 4X when it says it burns them at 16X.

Another question I have is I bough Verbatim DVD+R DL discs I had heard they were the best for making backup 360 games. Although on the case it says RW. Will they still work for 360 games, and are all DVD+R DL rewritable.

    Thanks Again!

You need Qsuite to take advantage of the BenQ functions....

Solidburn is turned off by default, so you will need to enable it. Solidburn is an intuitive tool that learns the media that you are using for your burns. The concept is that the more you burn the better the better the burner will handle your media, thus resulting in better burns.

Thanks for explaining the SolidBurn function LOCOENG. Although I am still wondering why it was burning at around 4X on a DVD+R when it says it can burn at 16X. Another thing is about the DVD+R DL. Is every DVD+R DL rewritable? If not will the ones I buy work with my 360? Thanks

Make sure your DMA is enabled on all drives, if your transfer mode has slipped into PIO mode you will make coasters and your speed will decrease. BTW, it is only recommended to burn at half the rated speed of the blank and with DL's are recommended not to exceed 2.4X.

DL discs are not all RW, only if that is what you buy. As for working on the 360, I haven't a clue as I don't backup games. You might want to try the 360 forum for that one.
