the tuts in the stickies will give you a good background. apply what the stickies say to the jungle flasher guide and you got yourself a good tut for anything xbox, including your scenario.

first step// get the key off of the benq and save to file
2nd step // get hitachi recognized with JF. and read to source
3rd. manually change key in hitachi fw to benq key
4th... return hit to original if flashed previously
5th check hit ofw for benq's key
6th manually spoof as benq w/1.51
7th flash hit with spoofed fw

    Done.

Go HERE to view the Jungle Flasher Guide. Go to the Spoofing a Hitachi Drive to report as a Different Drive Revision / Version section and follow it.

Make sure your using the latest JungleFlasher v0.1.55 Beta version.

you'll do fine. if you get to the point of flashing DO NOT INTERUPT it. Don't power down while flashing for any reason. Are you powering with connectivity kit or with xbox?

k i went into JF firmware folder and in there says place firmware here...my question...so i extracted the 1.51 rar file and place the contents of the folder by draggin and dropping it into the place firmware here folder.....this is what i get when i hit restore firmware

restoring Stock f/w to Hitachi 0078/0079 by Ram Upload Method via WIN32 API
Dumping Flash:Failed to open drive E

does the contents of the 1.51 folder go into thee JF firmware folder displaying all the different bins and the place firmware folder or does it go into the place firmware folder ?

    hope ididn't confuse anyone
    cheers

ok i put the orgin.bin into the JF fireware folder along with the place firmware folder so in the firmware folder theres 2 files orig.bin and the place firmware here.txt

i hit restore and it gave me this message

Master Checksum is not set, this is not normal for a modded drive. Drive is not likely hacked.

this is where im at im goin to wait until i get a responce b4 goin on

    cheers

Try reading the firmware with Firmware Toolbox. It will dump whatever firmware is on there. At that point, you will know for sure, what firwmare is on there... custom or stock. Once you do know, you can simply switch your selection in JF from Restore to Flash iXtreme.

ya im with leerage, just use firmware toolbox...here is a youtube video that i used...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCiKGKr0rtk

if you have any questions just ask me and ill clear them up but it is pretty simple, all you have to do is copy the key from the old drive and paste in the new one with fwtb then hit save key, then tools spoof firmware and select what drive your old one was.

If you are unsure of what firmware version is on the drive, use Firmware Toolbox to dump the drive and figure it out. After that I would continue to use Jungle Flasher. The creators have made it so so so easy to flash a Hitachi it's unbelievable.

The other issue I have with firmware toolbox is that it DOESN'T copy serial data. If you have original firmware and you just copy the key, load ix1.51, and copy and paste your key.... your new custom firmware WON'T CONTAIN SERIAL DATA. Jungle Flasher on the other hand will transfer the serial data for you. Copy and Paste in Firmware Toolbox is not a good idea.

use iprep 008.8 w/ updated def files found in xbins. and make a bootable flash drive. Works great althought i heard jf was easier (didn't try it yet)

When you get iprep and the def files you are going to want "to go to programfiles/iprep/resources and you should see the ixdef, just copy the ixdef 1.51 from the file you downloaded and paste it in the resources folder, then hit copy and replace."
