    Hi guys,
I'm awaiting my replacement 360 from MS and i read somewhere that all the repaired ones come back with lite-on drives now, so my questions are these:

1)I am a pc engineer so am not afraid to solder, what exactly does soldering the specific point on the drive do??
    2) i understand i will need a connectivity kit the first time i flash this..or do i?? if so what is the advantage of the CK3 pro over the CK3 lite??
3)if i solder am i right in thinking i have no need for a probe at all?
    4) whats the best way to flash a liteon drive and could someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of the best tutorial (pdf or video)
5)i have an elite here and am tempted to flash it right now as its a benq..i was keeping it for playing legit games only but its nearly over its year warranty..the only reason i have two boxes now is so that i can use one for online if the flashed one gets banned...whats your guys advice on this?

    Many thanks

I'm also wondering about this, I just opened one of my xbox's and it has a lovely lite-on drive.

I see many threads mentioning "spoofing" where the DVD drive is swapped for another (i.e. benq) and tricked into thinking it is the original Lite-on drive. Is this still the only way? If not, is there an up to date tutorial on flashing these drives?

You can flash them yes and a good tutorial is here:

Now after reading through that again it has become clear that if you are good with a soldering iron you can just bridge the two points on the drive itself and thus eliminating the need for a probe altogether
but obviously you would need the ck3 for the key dumping via serial/usb...so am i to safely assume you MUST either use a bought/built probe and the 360 for power...OR a CK3 and solder the points on the drive board?
If thats the case then the cheapest option would be the diy probe, but the easiest option would by soldering the points and buying a CK3.

Also what is the seperate pcb with a sata connection and such for in the CK3 pro bundle??

    Thanks again

this is the guide i used to do mine.
    http://www.adploits.com/2009/03/24/flasing-stock-liteon-dg-16d2s-with-ixtreme-151-firmware/
it is a very easy to understand guide that shows exactly which tab to go under and what button to click. if you want to save about 70 dollars check out this page:
    http://www.adploits.com/2009/03/24/flasing-stock-liteon-dg-16d2s-with-ixtreme-151-firmware/
it may not be up there but if you wait until tomorrow there will be a guide on how to make basically a connectivity kit. it is only going to be needed to used once so you dont want to spend 70 on that.
