Hey ya'll, i hope i'm in the right section. I had a bad virus from downloading torrents and had to reformat my pc back to factory mode. Now i have no Anti Virus or Anti Spyware running.

Can someone please advise me on the best one to download.

    Many thanks

Agreed. Nearly all the programs and Word documents available on P2P networks are virused, and a very large number of the data files (e.g. mp3, Mov, Avi, etc.) contain exploit code.

I do find Avira Antivir to be the best AV software. But, the problem is, if you're using P2P, you're probably getting "zero-day" (brand-new) malware coming at you.

    Download a P2P uninstaller.

    Then get Avira AntiVir.

What don't you get? Don't use P2P! No antivirus is effective in protecting against it!

I understand what your saying, but i'm not the only one in my home who uses torrents, my bro's do and i would rather try to be the one with some sense and try to protect the pc the best i can.

    That's true.

If you want to go free, AntiVir is the best.

If you want to pay, in my opinion Kaspersky is the way to go, but with a price of $60 it doesn't come cheap. Just don't get Norton :D

    AVG sucks.

AntiVir has the highest detection of all the free scanners, but its only annoyances are its continual advertising on update and its hard-to-configure interface. Other than that, it's basically perfect.
