Im going to buy myself a slim PS2 and mod it (just because im bored and things like that keep me busy)

All I want is a basic "boot it up and play" modchip, I dont need any of that fancy crap. Whats the best chip out there for that and where is the best place to get it?

Gotta go to work now, ill check back later.

I ordered my chip from mod-chip.com and had great results. As far as which chip to choose there are 3 big name chips out there...

    DMS4 Pro Se
    Crystal Chip 2.0
    Matrix infinity Green Dot

Any of these will do everything want and more.

Yupe thats about it. There are cheap clones but if you look around you will see that staying with one of these is your best option. Now everyone has there own favorite of these three mine would be either the CC2.0 or the MI.

    Have fun!

The thing is, those chips run about $40. They have all that fancy flashing shit I just have no interest in.

Im looking to drop around $20-$30 chip that will just boot backups. I just got a slim today ($30, not bad) and im unsure of the model, if thats important in the least.

I have an Apple in my fat PS2, and its basically perfect for what I want it to do.

    Yoshi,

The model is important. There are about 1 million websites that will tell you what version your PS2 is. just google it. If you got a brand new slim it is most likely a v15. Since 15 is a newer PS2 a lot of the websites don't have any info on it.

Sounds like you already know what you want though.

The DUO 3 GT looks like the chip I would want. You put a disc in, and it plays it. Its less than $30.

My question is, is it a good chip? Has anyone had any issues with them?

My PS2 is a v14. I dont know if my previous post was deleted?

Any of the Duo chips will work great as long as you purchase one from a reputable vendor (beware of fakes/clones). They offer basic backup use, and imports.

There is no Duo3 GT! There is a Duo2 GT and it was full of bugs and was quickly replaced with the Duo3. The Duo3 had a few bugs (none severe) and has just very recently been replaced with the Duo3 Gold which is a huge advancement for Team Omega in that the Duo3 Gold has dev1 mode. This chip is very very new and I'm still waiting to hear more about it.

i love the Team Omega's PS2 chip line so much it's a toss up between it and the China-Magic (hell i don't much care for their XBOX line either) You Get What You Pay For.

I got the Duo 3 Gold.

I have the Duo Q in my cube, and it works perfectly fine.
