I am using Generic blank DVD-discs. I bought them at Fry's. Its the GQ brand. What blank DVD brand would be best if I wanted to backup a movie and play it on my PS2 or regular DVD player?

    Verbatim?
    Sony?
    Maxell?
    TDK?

    Any others?

I think that's the first time I've read on these boards that someone hasn't mentioned TY or Verbatim as best media.

Ridata/Ritek? Some rank that like third or fourth.

TY is probably the best with Verbatim a very close second.

PS Check out the media forum. You'll have all your questions answered there.

Taiyo Yuden is definately the best. Have burned over 300 titles and never had a coaster.

No, I'm not joking. Dollar per dollar, Ri has always been more efficient.

I use TY's for my "top shelf" movies I like to call them. Everyday back ups go on Verbatim. No problems with either. When you buy the verbatims on sale its a pretty good value. I think I paid 15 dollars US for 50 at best buy last month...So I bought 200 just to have lying around.

eh, I don't like buying branded media. TY and Ri are the only ones I know you can easily get unbranded (silver on silver)

But good call on the info for the verbatims deals at BB. Thanks

I agree with all the verbatim fans out there. only 1 coaster out of 900 and that was cause the power went out during the burning process. If you have an office max in you area, they go on sale for 14.99 for a 50 pack all the time.
