ummhh.... ~cough.. and cough. Who told you that they're good? Honestly for PS2 games, I backed up them on either the 8X DVD+R Maxell (Made In Japan) and the 8X DVD+R Taiyo Yuden (or FUJI "Made In Japan"). So far all of my PS2 games works flawlessly.

I only use Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8x and have absolutely no problems. Don't go cheap period when it comes to the PS2 because it will not read shit media period.

I have a Ps2 Slim. I use a variety of media and have never had a problem with cheap or expensive media when backing up a game. + or - doesn't matter with my machine. I burn at 8x for everything using dvd decrypter.
I believe what matters most is the quality of your burner and the stability of your system. My burner is a HP dvd630i, it was only about a hundred bucks canadian. Works well for those interested.

Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim never let me down yet, just my two cents.

I personally have used both TY and Verbatim media on my PS2, and have not had trouble with either, but I prefer TY media. Flawless every time.

All right, i found a site with TY's for $17.50 for a 50-pack. Good deal if they're as good as u guys say they are and a lot of people do. I'll get them. If anyone wants the link, just ask. And they're made in Japan.

I just have one more question?, which format (+/-) is better for the PS2 and backing up games/burning them on? Which one is more reliable and plays better and looks better and is better for ur PS2 and saves ur laser's life a little more? And my biggest question, which format loads faster?

O... I was hoping that it was +. I don't use - because I play alot of movies on my PS2. The thing about +/- is that you can booktype/bitset with +. I don't really know how it works with PS2 games but... older dvd players and xbox/PS2 have a prob. read +/- so you booktype to DVD-ROM,which is universal, so it can. Again not sure how it works with a game backup.

I'm doing the same thing as you, GlueEater. Yep.... I prefer the DVD+Rs over any DVD-Rs, not to mention that I love to "book type" all of them into DVD-ROM. I can't let my 3 year old player rest yet, gotta keep it playing you know.

I already knew about teh site, it's jsut that I was hoping that they had teh same price for DVD+R, but they didn't. They had the same price as all the other Online Media Stores (supermediastore.com, meritline.com in case you want to check those out). But once AGAIN, I'm not sure if that is the case w/ PS2 games, hell it might even make it worse. For some reason the link isn't working but you'll find info at k-probe.com. I can tell you how they are right now, no need to wait till I get them. They TY's! OF course they're good, you don't have to worry about getting fakes either.

you know what, im not gonna buy from there or any other ones of those sites even though they're the only ones with TY. Im gonna buy from newegg, and im gonna buy RITEK from them, look at it, better deals and the quality is about the same, free 3 day shipping on newegg, a combo deal, i can pick if i want a free DVD+R DL(yea, 8.5GB), a free cd wallet that can hold 24 CD's/DVD's or a free 50 pack of RITEK RiData 52X 700MB CD-R's, if u look at it like it, it sounds better to me, i dont want to pay $5 for ground shipping, getting free 3 day is much better, and to think newegg has a warehouse in edison, NJ and i live in NYC, NY, which is so close, they can get it to me in A DAY, yes, its true, my liteon DVD burner i ordered from them came in a day and i had free 3 day shipping. :) So im gonna buy ritek from newegg. I think u can see why.

I tried backing up my PS2 DVD with no success. I followed the DVD Decrypter instructions and used a SWAP Disk ver. 3.6. After the sawp I get a message that says "Please insert a PLAYSTATION or PLAYSTATION 2 format disc" with a reddish galaxy backgroung. I'm ussing HP DVD-r discs. I tried it twice with the .mds and .iso. Please help.

    maybe this will help,
