What would you say is the best codec [bold]in terms of quality[/bold] for MPEG-4 files?

    Currently I use ffdshow.

    Thanks in advance!

Actual XviD. I find FDDSHOW's XviD encoding to be ... not so great (i havnt tried the Jun29 version yet though they might have fixed itup)

Do you mean decoding instead of encoding?

What bothers me about using other codecs is that when i look at CPU usage, they take up from 70-100%, while ffdshow is easy on the CPU, from 20-35% cpu usage only.

Is there a way then to make it possible that ffdshow only handles decoding, while different codecs handle the encoding portion of things?

Oh and what is a good player to use alongside ffdshow? I've heard zoomplayer works, in that you can have it set that ffdshow postprocess the raws, and then have your regular codec postprocess them again.
