Hi, I have some downloaded avi files on my hard drive. I need to convert them to mpeg vob files then burn them to dvd burner. I have Ultra Dvd Creator software, but it took 6 hours to convert file to vob and then burn file. Is there any software on the market that will convert to vob and then burn to dvd alot quicker. everytime i see these type of posts, i ask the following question: AVI stand alone player= about $60, no need to convert and loose quality in the process. so why? why? why even bother buying a avi to dvd software? why?
the answer is simple...... most people have DVD players not AVI players! soooooo if your friends or family want to borrow you DVD then why why why why didn't you convert your files to DVD compliant so any DVD can play the disk! [bold]That's why![/bold]
Hi, I have an LG RH-539 DVD Recorder and I would not replacing it for the world BUT, I played 1 x .avi once, and it did not fast forward or go backwards. I would have to test more, but I don't really use this feature (Play .AVI) ConvertXtoDVD let's me generate a simple menu, but at least I do have a menu I can jump 5 minutes ahead of backwards 5 minutes since I have chapters. It plays in any DVD player as my friend IHoe mentioned, so you can watch them in any DVD Player. I guess it's a personal choice, I choose the convert everthing to DVD. I start the conversion and walk away so it's not a big hassle for me
my points: 1- converting avi to dvd= lots drop in quality picture. 2-AVI are very cheap, as much or just a little more than converting softwares.
there isn't any loss in quality to convert from AVI to DVD compliant files...... if the AVI is good so will the convertion! Use ConvertXtoDVD and see for yourself! And to each his own! You like AVI..... well come over my house and see that converting from AVI to DVD is great! and more acceptable than playing AVIs! that's my 2 cents.

Hi there, I have a 32" TV that has, I think 500 lines MAX, so the quality is as good as your TV ! If I went out and spent $1500.00 on a BluRay DVD Player, and played a BluRay Movie, I probably would not even see the difference, from a normal DVD with a $29.00 WallyMart Player, because the TV can't handle more than a certain amount of lines. Ok, if you have a $25,000 Plama TV you might see a different in quality Not with the TVs we have in the house, and which probably most people have. My 2 cents...

it's just opininons..... everyone has them..... and everyone is entitled to theirs! If it works for you...... keep using it! Don't fix what's not broken and just enjoy!
Hey IHoe, Those are great comments, I was just gonna add that it's "To each his own" opinions and what makes YOU happy Personally ConvertXtoDVD makes me real happy. Personally, I don't feel that talking 2-3 hours of my time, to Demux this, and convert that, remux the audio and convert to blablalba 125 easy steps to make you go nuts HAHAHAHAHA !!! are worth it to convert 1 movie. Again, my 2 cents
There is a lot more to picture quality than lines of resolution. Run a few test DVD's through this low priced crap with their $3 decoding chips, then try the same on a high end unit. These unit's haven't got a clue when it comes to dealing with film based DVD's (among other things) and the need to pick up on the 3:2-film-frame sequences and compensate for it accordingly. This means that they can't play movies on DVD properly without the motion artifacts that can be caused by improperly handling the 3:2-frame sequence. We also have things like cadence handling, the ability to buffer more than one field, the list goes on and on. As far as lines of resolution are these cheap units really outputting what they say, hardly. Get a copy of the Avia DVD and look at the resolution pattern on it to see exactly how much you are losing. There is a big difference between low and high end DVD players. Decoding chipsets alone from folks like Genesis, Sage/Faroudja, and Silicon Image can cost upwards of $100 in large OEM quantities. Oh well... end of rant
Hi there, How different is your car from a toaster ? HAHAHAHA They are 2 totally different software. Winamp is mostly used to play music, and some video files. ConvertXtoDVD is used to convert video files (.AVI / .MPG etc..) to DVD Files so they can be played in a plain DVD Player.
@Cynn I think you are asking about WinAVI not WinAMP I have used both ConvertXTODvd and WinAVI I use ConvertXTODvd when i want a menu for the AVI that I am converting. But I use WinAVI if I just want to watch the AVI files with no menus. Ill convert with WinAVI and burn to a DVD-RW. WinAVI seems quicker to me. It all depends where I am going to play the file at. If it is in my living room then I will just burn the AVI file and play in my comaptible AVI DVD player.
