DVDSanta has limited options, it's output is not always DVD compliant, it crashes with no reason, it resizes video, it has poor quality at a given bitrate, and is generally at the bottom of a very long list of poor software.

If you want quality, try Mainconcept, Canopus Procoder, or CCE, then author in something like DVDLab.

If you want a "one-click-wonder" that will produce studio quality dvd's, there simply isn't one.

Here's a few more you might want to try, some are even free.

VSO has a tickbox, that you can change from 4:3 to 16:9.
    This is widescreen.

    [bold]what is the best converter???????[/bold]

WHAT A QUESTION THAT IS !!!!

at the moment,in my opinion nothing can beat the following combo's,for the 2 most popular requirements

    [bold]AVI'S[/bold]

    the film machine,using CCE'S engine,2 pass minimum

    [bold]EXTRACTED MPEGS'S FROM BIN IMAGES[/bold]

    mainconcepts mpeg encoder,2 pass

    followed by TMPGEnc to join

I recently used TMPGenc Plus to convert my mpeg files to mpeg2 so that I can burn them on dvd. I was successful in doing this but the picture looks a little weird. The sound and pictures looks great but when there is motion, you can see square pixels moving in motion. Don't know if I'm explaining this well but if anyone knows how to fix this problem it would be great.

I used these settings for the TMPGenc:

    Video tab
    Stream type: MPEG-2 Video
    Size: 352x240 (for NTSC)
    Aspect Ratio: 4:3
    Frame Rate: 29.97fps (NTSC)
Rate Control Mode: CBR at 400kbps
    VBV Buffer: 224 KB
    Profile & level: MP@ML
    Video Format: NTSC
    Encode mode: non-interlace
    YUV: 4:2:0
    DC precision: 9 bits
    Motion search precision: Normal

    Advanced
    Video source: non-interlace
    Field order: bottom or top
    Source aspect: 1:1
    Video arrange method: Full screen

    GOP Structure
    IBBPBBPBBPBBPBBP
Number of I pictures in GOP: 1
Number of P pictures in GOP: 5
Number of B pictures in GOP: 2
Output interval of sequence header: 1 GOP
Max number of frames per GOP: 18
Output bitstream for edit (Closed GOP): checked
    Detect scene change: checked
    Force picture type setting: unchecked

    Quantize matrix
    Did not mess with this

    Audio
    Stream type: MPEG-1 Layer II
    Sampling: 48000Hz
    Stereo
    Bitrate: 224kbps
Error protection checked, anything else unchecked

    System
    Stream type: MPEG-2 Program (VBR)
