I have been using Fujifilm DVD+R to burn back up PS2 games and none of them work. I tried a HP DVD+RW and it works great. Then I tried think HP media would work I burned a HP DVD+R but that didnt work either. Any suggestions on what DVD+R I should buy before I waste any more money. Plus my DVD movies wont work either.

I have now 60+ PS2 games using Platinum DVD+r and DVD+rw. Also used HP +r and +rw and Verbatim.

Strange HP +r works fine for me !

I have never seen a DVD with a coloured backside.
I thought they allways have a silver backside..!

I have use Memorex, Verbatim and Maxell DVD +R all purple. All seem to work equally well. The first DVD+RW recorders did not do DVD+R's. I assume yours is not one of these. What make and model is your burner.
I doubt that it is a media problem. Ether burner or software.

I am using A HP DVD 200i that I got for x-mas. I got the fujifilm DVD+R (purple). I just bought Memorex DVD+R (purple). I got one HP with the burner also in (purple). I tried burning a copy of Rygar on all 3 types none work with my Magic 3 modded Ver 7 PS2. The only one that would work was the HP DVD+RW that came with the writer and it had a (black) bottom. I also tried a movie with it and it worked fine. I tried to use Alcohol 120 and Nero 5.5.9. The nero seemed to be the only one to do the job. I also checked the solder points in the playstation MANY times and everything is ok. I even shortened all the wires as short as possible. Is it possible that I have to burn the DVDs on 1x speed to solve this problem of the disks not reading. I was going to buy some Verbatim DVDs but they were purple and I didnt feel like spending 45 bucks to find out they didnt work either. Thats when I bought a 3 pack of the Memorex. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do without buying all DVD+RW disks? They are a little expensive.

This is really odd. I don't think it's a mod problem or you couldn't read the +RW's. Something is not right with the +R burning or the laser on the PS2 is marginal, +R are harder to read then pressed media. Although you would think it would also have problems with +RW's if that was the case.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. I have never had a bad copy on Memorex media.
I would suggest you get a +R from someone else and see if it works, that would help rule in or out the PS2 as being part of the problem.

Today I tried burning a copy of the movie signs with DVDXcopy. It didnt play on my playstation with the DVD+R. So I took it to my friends house who got 2 playstations for christmas both ver 7. Neither of the playstations read the movie. So I then burned a copy of the copy I made onto a RW and it booted right up. I am at a loss with this I think it is my HP burner not burning +R disks properly. Anyone have any insite with this?

Yesterday I got DVDxCopy installed on my computer and copied a Star Wars movie to DVD+rw (as a test). This is a Platinum DVD+rw.
    I played fine in my PS2 v5 30004R.
I have not yet tested a movie copied to DVD+r.
