Would someone like to step up and take a shot at this?

I need a DVD recorder. I would like it to be reliable, priced between
$150.00 and $300, record both format’s + & -, allow playing of its disks on other machines and computers. That’s it. Sounds simple doesn’t it? Now for the problems or questions.

It does not need to be a combo type player (VCR). It does not need a hard drive (I’m working with a Tivo unit). Just a simple recorder that works.

Your advise or recommendations PLEASE! I have been from one end of the Internet to the other and have yet to find any machine that can met these requirements with some measure of reliability and that will not cause me to put on a second Mortgage on my house to buy it, please help.

They are all fairly good. They also all seem to have a bug here and there... (you apply some logic & resaerch & fix the problem.)
I would suggest you see what your local retailer(s) has/have and then research them by name both @ the manufacturers site & do Google searches for reviews of the said hardware.

I own an Ilo and I really like the unit. It has needed some personally love & care (maintainence) here & there but overall a really superb unit for very little money. My good friend David speaks well of his Phillips... Might look @ JVC's site. They have some rather impressive units out now, as does Sony & Panasonic. Prices are pretty low now too.

    Good Luck.
