Simple question but assume there will be all kinds of answers. Best way to convert DVD to a smaller file (700MB to a gig, give or take)with excellent quality, sound, etc....Don'T want menus, extras, or anything...Just the movie in the best quality & sound...Freeware would be nice, but if not, so be it.
fairuse wizard lite(free) is all I use. For best quality at a 700mb file use the h264 codec with the 2-pass mode. Your source dvd files has to be in ISO format. Fairuse only converts ISO. If you have your dvd's in a video_ts folder, you can use dvdshrink to turn it into an ISO in less than 5 minutes. This is the only program I have use that has never produce an audio sync problem for me.
