I went for the samsung R72 myself (32" LCD) and am very happy with it. Samsung picture quality, if you compare against others in the show room, just has better images and colour than the competition. I've heard Sony get their screens from Samsung. Mine also has a gaming mode (Still not 100% on what this does other than darkken the screen slightly) and you can connect it with a vga cable. I see you want a 42" model. Not sure how good that will be if viewing standard def TV bu it would be good for DVD's especially if the player was upscaled. Hope this helps
yea im quite happy with my 32" samsung but just want something bigger, and am gonna chose between those two
