I know this must have been asked thousands of times on here but i need to add subtitles to some movies and the easiest way for me is to burn a divx file and subtitle to a dvd and watch on my home divx player. im just wondering what software can someone recomend to convert straight from a dvd to divx, i searched the net and could not find a good one for free or without a water-mark. so i went out and bought one at best buy (x-oom movie converter), only to reialize the that after 4 1/2 hours of encoding i got a jittery picture and low volume even at the best divx settings. another one i tried was autoGK but it takes so long and my computer crashed on it. So whats the best software and easiest to use (dvd to divx) and Free
"autoGK" I don't know any fast ones, but when you consider that it's 6GB down to 700MB... As long as everything else that uses cpu power is shut down and there is good air flow through the box, letting it run overnight is the best bet. Have you checked the temps normal and flat out just in case there is some circulation problem? http://www.majorgeeks.com/Hmonitor_d269.html
If you have ur DVD ripped to HD already you can import the VOB's into VirtualDubMod and save as AVI (using codec of choice) - A two hour movie will probably take somewhere between 1-2 hours
Xvid4PSP is a great piece of software. Started out as converter for PSP video, but has grown to a very versatile (sp?) program with many uses. And speeds can vary depending on PC specs as well as options chosen. http://www.winnydows.com/xvid4psp.html
