I have been doing some reading. I have read that new games have 3.5 encryption and that the jailbreak won't work? I have also read the best method to boot games is an internal hard drive. Can I install a 500GB 2.5" sata? If I can only play old games, then I probably won't do it. I am sure banning is a risk like on the xbox. If I can play all games, then what jailbreak device is the best? I would like to have something I don't have to keep plugged in, but if price is a huge difference, that's fine. Any help appreciated.
The new games that I've come across can be patched to run on 3.41. I haven't played one that can't. Force Unleashed 2 is the latest that I've patched to work on my JB PS3. Although I haven't tried MOH, people say it works. I'd like to see the reasons why booting off the internal HDD is the best. Makes no difference to me. There are a handful of games that have files that are too large for a FAT32 drive. I only have 8 of those installed on my PS3. My remaining backups are all off my external drive. Of all the games I've tried, about 90% work. I guess it helps if you want to play a 4-player local game. But you can always ftp games back and forth from PS3 to PC if you run low on HDD space. Banning is not even something to think about now. You can only JB with 3.41 or lower. So you can't even sign on to the PSN since they require you to get the latest firmware. So only JB if you've resigned yourself to not being able to go online anymore. You don't need to keep the JB device plugged in. Once you get it in JB mode, you can remove it and go about your business. At least that is what I've done with the TI-84+. As far as I know, you can't update games yet. When a game asks if you want to update to the latest version, then the only thing to do is cancel and proceed with the game. Retail update packages can be downloaded, but not installed in JB mode. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's been a few weeks since I've looked into game updates.
All the PS3 Jailbreaks are all the same , But I would recommend P3GO , at least it may have extra features and the price is competitive .
They are not all the same...the most expensive one never gets updates, some of the best units don't have cases, and you can even switch between PL3 and Hermes V4B on some units (like my arduino). Plus, some of them have PICs that can't be reprogrammed without desoldering. BTW...I do not recommend the arduino unless you already have one around or if you just like to solder. I think there are other units with payload selection, I just haven't looked.
I'm a total Ps3 noob. All I want it to do is boot all games and make sure it is going to last. I want one that has the best support I guess. Is there a guide on here on how to jailbreak? I have not seen one.
i have a ps3key and its quite ok so far. they're already updated up to v4. encountered some probs but looks like they're common probs for all jailbreakers (booting game probs) *edit* oh yea and its quite simple to jb ur ps3 all usb dongles come with their own tutorial - mainly booting up with usb plugged in
u cant get a single name as its a matter of opinion its up to u to decide they're all good and most of them arent that expensive just search one which is not a clone upgradable affordable for ur own budget they all work
I'd stay away from clones. My advice is to choose the usb dev board option. You will be able to update a lost faster from the open source community. You'll always have the ability to load custom payloads. P3GO has impressive specs and "promises" to provide the ability to load "non-official" updates "soon." I personally don't like to keep any of my eggs in one basket.
The x3max is a good choice because it is essentially a Teensy 2.0++, but with more features and at a lower cost...and it has a nice plastic case. (and unlike the Teensy++, it is not on global backorder) The P3GO seems like it should be the best unit around, but it seems to need unique firmware designed for it (I can't say this for sure; this is just what I have picked up from their spec sheet that says the unit uses a professionally designed firmware)...so I can't recommend it.
It is the Porsche of jailbreaks...we know a lot more about the P3GO now, and it is clear that the x3max is still better, at least for the time being.
Well, I guess we'll have to take their word for that. This statement would be easier to verify, if the X3MAX manufacturers hadn't disfigured their own chips by scraping all the identifying markings off the top of them : http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2010/10/30/x3-max-setup-and-review/ ... thanks to bigo93 for the link Does that give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about the quality of the X3MAX product ? The Teensy++ 2.0 is only $24 + shipping (the "with pins" version is $3 extra, but you don't need this for JB) : http://www.pjrc.com/store/teensypp.html The X3MAX is $48.50 + shipping. How do you conclude the X3MAX is "at a lower cost" ? PJRC are receiving a sh*tload of new stock on November 22. Not long to wait for a quality product !
Right now, the only way to get a ++ is to buy from one of the scalpers, at $60 or more...so the x3 is cheaper. They claim they will have stock in Nov 22; they also claimed they would have stock back in october, and before that it was september. I am still waiting for my order from september. If you buy now, you will be waiting. The x3max is essentially the teensy++ because it can use teensy++ hex files...like AsbestOS. It is not identical; this is obvious from the fact that it has more features.
