Hello everyone, Im in the market for a new laptop. Ive been curently backing up my dvd collection on my OLD laptop and want to start backing up my Blu Ray collection.

Im not real familiar with computer slang so what do I need to look for when purchasing??
Would I be better to buy a external BR drive and plug it into the new laptop or buy one already installed...Thanx

Katpeeler, my opinion is that you want a harddrive 320 gb or bigger. 4gb of ram and all the cpu you can afford. My buddy has an Alienware m17x from dell and that thing is a joy to work bruray files. I have an inspi
ron w/ an intel t8300 duel core w/ 4gb of ram. Its not to shabby but worlds apart from the quad core in the aliens.

Quad core is 4 processors. The i5 has 2 quad core models that I know of. The 750 and 7505. The rest being duel cores. Yea the alienware is way out of my reach.

Yes the i3 is a duel core processor. The thing I would be concerned about w/ that laptop is the heat. Processing hd files has the machine running for a long time. My laptop has a T8300 in it and it runs HOT. Just not enough room in there for air to keep things cool. My next lp will be liquid cooled. At a glance I didn't see what kind of heat that processor generates

Thanx for all the help, but you confused me with your "T8300" comment. I have looked at the specs of the laptop Im looking at and I dont see anything about heat generation...Can you tell me how to check what kinda heat it puts out..Thanks again
