I know I am looking for best of both worlds. I need a laptop somewhere between $500 to $1000. I have heard bad reviews on Dell, and Sony support/help desk. I am getting this for my parents and I want something reliable and problem free and when they need help I would like good support. I know I am really asking for alot I was looking at alienwares but since dell got involved im not to sure about them anymore. what do you guys think or use thanks in advance.

Alien Ware? I wish my mom and dad were hardcore gamers..lol

Well its really depends on what they will be using it for...im not to big on laptops, but just read around
    Pc Magazine
    Cnet
are good places to go for reviews and all of that, my mom has an IBM think pad and she is happy and has been problem free with it.

    Good luck

With $500 to $1000 price range you should be able to get a very good laptop.Ive seen some good deal's from Dell ordered one for a friend with Core Duo Processor,1GB Memory, 80GB Hard Drive, free widescreen upgrade, free shipping, dvd burner for $650.00.I never use there support though i cant understand what ever language they use.Keep an eye on deal news they have some really good deals there and it updated thru out the day.

Rule of thumb: Laptops that come with good support usually need it.

Stay away from Compaq's, Emachines, and even HP's.

Sony makes a great product, but yes there customer service isn't as great. Dell also makes a good laptop, but from what I have heard their customer service was good.

Whats up with all that customer service you guys talking about, all of them are prcticaly the same, but you should get a alienware(1000 might not get you a realy good one), you can get a good dell for 1000, alot of people say they good, but I never hard one and i hope I never get one(dont like dell).
