my dad is planning on getting a laptop, prebuilt because i dont know exactly how to build a laptop. and im wondering what companies good? i know people have had personal problems and such, i hated HP along time ago because we constantly got poor quality machines. i dont plan on getting anything extravagant around 2000+, but something thats like a bang-for-the-buck kind of thing.
my dad got an acer and loves it and he did have a little problem with a key on it but thay ask for it back and put a hole new keybord on it under the 3 year warranty not bad service
I tend to avoid recommending Acer laptops because they come with trojans built in which allow Acer to monitor anything you're doing. Not applicable if you reformat them of course, but it's still a good reason to avoid them.
I personally have never had issues with Dell or HP, but some people seem to think strongly otherwise. Dells offer an awesome warranty service, but it's quite expensive.
I have a Compaq Desktop (HP) for about 6 years now, and it has never given me any problems. If you are from the US I suggest HP first then DELL and If you still cant find one... beware of all asian branded computers they don't last and also they have the worst tech support in the world. I had a dell once and at first the 15' inch monitor was dying then the processor burned out. Also HP wont mind replacing your parts for free sometimes, but DELL will charge an arm and a leg. Since it's a laptop a warranty is a must. PLEASE IGNORE THE PM "dragnandy" I thought the top right corner button was to reply.
I personally have a HP dv6500 which is awesome. Got it for under $1000. I have also had two dells. Read their forums before setlling on one of their models some seem to have big issues where others don not. I would also recommend going to laptop review and do some reading there (also where I found an online coupon!) Good Luck
