I was wondering if somebody could help me out. I simply cannot copy DVDs or burn any downloaded films to DVD-r without some problem. I've even tried to back up DVDs from my own collection and they always end up jumpy and they freeze slightly. And I also downloaded a DVD rip of a brand new DVD that was just released (Naming no names) and that even jumped in parts and I burnt it on the slowest setting. Could it be my media, as I've used the same DVD-rs for about 2 years? Also, can somebody recommend the best software to do it? I've heard Nero is the best and it's usually what I use. PLEASE HELP ME OUT before I go mental! lol Cheers
It sounds like a hardware problem. How old is your drive? I would see how it went with other media first- fingers crossed that's your problem. As for burners, I think DVD Shrink has a decent (free) burner built in. I use the burner that's built into TMPGEnc DVD Author which is very good.
Hi mate, thanks for the reply. I bought my DVD/CD Writer about 2 years ago. And I've used the full version (Not trial) of VSO XtoDVD I think it's called lol. Anyway, I used that today to convert a United 93 download and put it onto DVD. I used a Datawrite Titanium 4.7GB General Purpose 8x DVD R. I burnt it at about 4x and encoded it at the slowest rate. It plays perfect and doesn't freeze, but it still has that slight pixellisation glitch every now and then. I'm happy to go on like this, but is it possible to get rid of that pixelly glitchy thing, or is that just being Greedy? So to sum up DVD/CD Writer: LiteOn (Don't know Specifics, threw out box but bought 2 years ago, so 2 years obsolete you could say lol) Media: DataWrite Titanium 4.7GB. I have been thinking about getting these... Would these choices make a difference; DVD/CD Writer: Pioneer DVR-111D DVD+/-R/RW Writer (Recommended to me) Media: Taiyo Yuden Full-Face Printable (16x) DVD-R ???? Well it's most probably a hardware fault (but make sure there's nothing else running in the background when you're burning to disc). Are these discs different from the ones you've used in the past? If not, I'd try another make- just in case. When you ask if you're being greedy for wanting a perfect output, no- you should end up with perfect output every time. You might consider trying a different video converter before splashing out on new hardware. I use WinAVI and can recommend it, never having had any problem at all. Does the finished DVD play the same (pixellations etc) on the computer drive as well as your DVD player?
yeah it's like once every minute I think. I've used the same media since I started burning DVDs lol I was going to buy that Brand new Pioneer DL DVD burner. Might just do that. I've also bought some of those Taiyo Yudens which are highly recommended so I'll soon know if it's the media! With that WinAVI, i'll give it a try, but every post you read, recommends VSO XtoDVD with a passion lol! I'll just keep trying all difference recommendations until I get it right. I have been told by a few that it could be my media. I use the cheapest on the market, which are of course DataWrite Titanium. But these Taiyo Yudens are like 10 times more expensive lol!
