Okay I own a copy of Final Fantasy 7 PAL for PlayStation. But whenever I play it on psp it always freezes at movie sequences eg. the opening, the rocket launch, and the gondola ride.

Is there a way to make it perfect without freezing? I have a psp slim with 5.00 m33 cfw. When ripping the discs I usually use ImgBurn which I then rip it to the image standard ISO format. I've then been using RS-GUI PopStationMD 3.00 to make the eboot but each eboot seperately.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make it perfect?

    Thanks,

Nah but it's happened on 4.00 m33 as well as 3.90 m33 so I think it's the method I'm using.

that sucks dude i think PAL is somehow protected and in that the quality sucks e.g. freezing, black and white, or no sound.

hmm yeah cos I have to run it through my pc emulator every time it freezes which is annoying. The quality is good and in colour but the freezing is annoying.

But I think I can fix it if I somehow rip it using a different method. What about applying a US patch to my game would that help?

    Thanks,

Wait I found something here so I can convert my game from PAL to NTSC. I'm going to try it now. Some other guy on this other forum is having the same problem.

Let us know if it works. I've been having the same problem trying to convert Shadow of the Horned Rat. Been using the v3.00 popstation GUI and applying the pal>ntsc fix that it has built in but still wont get past the Playstation intro logo.

Is it possible just to take the .iso or .ccd and put it in the ISO folder or does that only work with UMD iso's?

Nah the ISO folder is just for PSP ISOs that you've backed up from your PSP games not for PSone. PSone go into the GAME folder. eg. GAME> FF7DISC1 > EBOOT.PBP

Ok I just tried patching it yesterday with no apparent results with the PAL to NTSC patching program. Perhaps I followed the instructions incorrectly? I will try again.

I tried a new game on Final Fantasy 7 PAL Australian version and it froze at the opening sequence.

chances are you just need popsloader to run the ff7 in a lower firmware then what you are using, the ff7 i use also freezes at the opening movie until i installed popsloader
and you can try converting with many programs and never get all psx games to work right with your current firmware, each game will run better of worse on different firmwares this is the exact reason poploader was made so people could change between them while loading different psx games

Yeah I've tried running it in all the popsloader startup firmware options with no success. Its not just that game. Any PAL eboot I make doesnt work yet I can convert NTSC eboots without any problems. So annoying.

Thats interesting,I was going to suggest Pops, but seems that doesn't work.Well in any case I have played through it completely with 3.71 pops.Couldn't hurt to try again, also maybe try fiddling with Region setting in Recovery(although I think that might only be for PSP games.

Yeah just trying pops when I was driving to perth. None of the other firmwares work only the original one from flash as I end with a black screen.

hey guys, don't know if you'll see this since the last reply was on the 12th of December but anyway here's the solution.....

always always ALWAYS convert PAL to NTSC. Popstation only works fine with NTSC discs. You can find patches easily through Google, or look here:

    http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches.shtml

apply the patch, it's very easy. Just follow the instructions and read the guide, it's very simple by just using PPF-O-MATIC and it takes literally 5 seconds to patch and it's done.

Anyway, certain eboot makers will affect the outcome of the eboot. Some eboot makers have bugs so i suggest you try out the recommended ones, again, use Google and do some research.......as for ripping the games from the discs, IMGBURN works perfectly 99% of the time so stick to that.

And look at this site for Popstation compatibility with games, FF7 works fine on latest 5.00m33 cfw, but make sure you're using the proper eboot maker.
