I'm looking for suggestions for the best sub to complete my home theatre project. I'm happy with everything, but my sub currently. It tends to rumble and fart a lot so I just keep it nearly off. It is a cheap-o KHL. I want to step up, but can only afford about $400. What are some suggestions? Oh, it will be mostly for DVD's. I don't play very much music on this system except when playing x-box.
My cousin is runnin a 10 in polk audio sub. Hooked up to a Onkyo reciever, and it sounds very good. I have a Onkyo sub hooked up to a Onkyo reciever, but I would take his Polk Audio over my Onkyo anyday.

That looks liike a very good sub, but I would go to best buy, circuit city. Or anything else and listen to there subs before buying so you are sure to get what yuo want. I am only 15 but I know my Sh*t when it comes to audio.
check best buy and circuit city for open box values.......... i found my polk psw404 for 200 bucks at the time.... and it was a demo, still with the 5 year warranty, and to this day, i love it and saved money !
Hey gear79 is that the 10 inch polk cuz if it is that sub is awesome and I love the way it sounds. Tha would be the way to go.
yup, sure is ! http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/individual/subwoofers/psw404/ and it f**ken rocks and rattles my windows !!
Thanks for all the replies. I've actually been considering the klipsch sub10. I think I will go out to best buy tonight and see how it sounds. See how many dirty looks I can get from testing it out.
how it sounds in a show room will also sound different in your room. just keep that in mind. bass radiates, so you really cant tell where it comes from. good luck.
i am a knowledgeble audiophile, i post on klipsch boards, and home and video forum all the time. I know my equip too. If you really want some punch for less of the price of the Sub12, I would recommend the Sub-10 by klipsch, or a dayton audio sub. Polk's 12" drivers are crap(speaking from high expectations), it only drives down to 26hz, 1.2 excusion and the site dosent even claim max spl@1m.Sub10 offers 115dB @30 Hz. Thats pretty good for a 360$ sub. If you live near a costco, sometimes they have klipsch products for cheap! i saw a KSW-10 for 150$. Good sub as well. If you have time, download and burn a bass test CD, like one that has peaks at 30,40,50 ect ect hz. And test it out, but just remember you're sub should sound better, the products there are abused everyday by customers.(heh i like to crank the sub12 up high when i go to BB)
