Hi, I have a few xvid clips i would like to encode to dvd to watch on my widescreen tv. I began using winavi because of its sheer ease of use but I'm really looking for the absolute best quality I can get. Money is no object (that is, less than $200 or so). I heard tmpgenc would offer the best quality over the newest cce and that those were the top two. Im also seeing alot of talk about divxtodvd. But Im weary of tmpgencs LONG encoding time. All I want is the highest quality in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks in advance

There are only a small handfull of Professinal Quality encoders on the Market and most others are Consumer level Crap....

The only encoder i would recomend are :

Tmpgenc Pluss/Express (Good Quality ,Lots of Features ,Very Slow)

Canopus Procoder/Express (Very good Quality, but Very Slow)

MainConcept Encoder (Very good Quality ,Very fast ,Light on Features)

CinemaCraft Encoder SP(The Best quality encoder there is and one of the Fastest but it is Difficult to use unless you have a very Good Understanding of Mpeg encodeing and Digital video Like you need to know all about Pulldown and Scanning Order and Qualtize matrix and other stuff and Knowing how to Frameserve is a Must useing this encoder and it costs $2000 US)

So I think you might be better off useing either the MainConcept encoder or Tmpgenc.....

    Cheers
