What would be the best picture/sound quality tv tuner card to connect to a laptop? I am buying a new Dell laptop (probably the Inspiron 9000 series) for college within the next month. I would like to save space in my dorm by using my laptop as my tv as well, and as my DVR. What tuner can give me the best possible picture. Features don't matter too much, and hard drive space isn't an issue, because i will be buying a rather large external hard drive to connect via usb 2.0. I just don't want anything that's going to give me a noticable pixelized picture that's very blocky. I would like to get as close as possible to the HDTV type pictures that can be downloaded off the internet. Thanks for the help!!!
Yeah, i checked that out and it seemed pretty good, but i haven't found any reviews on it. Have you tried this yourself, how is the quality? Also, what about the one that i can get from dell when buying my laptop, does anyone know the brand, or how well it is? Thanks again!!!
I have no idea about the Dell card, but the Hauppauge produces near-DVD quality mpeg's from TV captures, and is pretty good with VHS too. If you want HDTV quality, you're going to spend about $500 on an HD capture card, and AFAIK, they only come in PCI...nothing external for your laptop.
