I was wondering if anyone could tell me their opinion on what the best software for burning ripping and duplicating DVDs without loosing quality is (if possible free) Everything I have used so far has diminished the quality of the DVD in some way I only have one drive in my lap top so I was also curious if I have to buy another one. So far I have been just saving the DVDs to my computer and then later burning them to a DVD. I have also had trouble with copy protection and was wondering if there is anyway to beat that. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best DVD backup program that I have used is DVD-RB + CCE. There is a free version of DVD-RB but also a Pro version that cost money. I use CCE Basic encoder which does cost money but there are free encoders available to use with DVD-RB. So you can use the free DVD-RB with 1 of the free encoders if you are looking for free programs. Below is a guide that will tell you how to use DVD-RB free version and some more information about it. Plus it will tell you what the difference is between Transcoders (DVD Shrink/Recode2/CloneDVD2)and DVD-RB with an encoder. It also will go over ripping the DVD to your HDD with a ripping program. (The 1 drive you say you have is enough if this is a DVD burrner) http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=55302 It will take a little longer to backup a DVD using DVD-RB + Encoder. But if it is quality that you are looking for then defiantly look into DVD-RB with an encoder. If you do not want any quality lose then the only way this is possible is if you buy Dual layer media and burn the disc without compression. If this is not an option then DVD-RB + Encoder in my opinion would be the best bet for quality backups.
Free there is DVD Shrink (but won't remove protections). Also combos like DVDFab Decrypter,RipIt4Me w/ VoBlanker. The Best Software out there is DVDRebuilder w/ CCE. ( CCE cost about $60 ) & will take about 6 hours to back up movie. Your best bet though might be CloneDVD & AnyDVD together. Takes about 25-50 minutes to back up a movie. (both together cost about $60) both come w/ lifetime updates. AnyDVD breaks the newest & latest protections. Constantly being updated. I have purchased them both.....money well spent.
DVD-RB should not take you 6hrs to backup on most ussers computers. It all depends on your setup. It only takes me 1 1/2 to 2 HRS to backup a DVD with DVD-RB + CCE. Some other encoders could take longer. But this all will depend on what your computer specs are and what encoders you use. So you will have to decied what is more important. Time or quaility and go from there.
I haven't used it myself. But that's what many people on AD say it takes about. Many people say that DVRB is the best software out there.
Allot of people will use 6 pass when using DVD-RB + CCE which is why it takes so long. If you limit to 2 or 3 pass then it should take between 1 1/2 to 3HRS. CCE basic only lets you use 2 pass. Which is sufficient enough anyway. You really do not gain much doing more then 3 passes.
WOW 6 passes !! well then that's why it takes soo long. What's the advantage of 6 passes over 2 ? I mostly use Nero Recode & always set it for 2 passes.
Most of the DVD's that are on download sites that are considered (SCENE RELEASE) are 6pass with DVD-RB + CCE. That is just the standard for the scene releases. I have no idea what the advantage really is between 6 pass or 3 pass. I have done it both ways and see no difference between them. So I just do 3 pass. I do know if you custom size the output file. The more passes you do the closer you will get to the actual size you want. I also used Nero Recode2 but after trying DVD-RB + CCE I never went back. I have a 67in big screen and can tell a major difference between using Recode2 and using DVD-RB + CCE (3PASS)
Hello Guys: I have always enjoyed using DVD shrink (which doenst shrink if it doesnt have to) and is free. Sometimes DVD Fabdecryptor if shrink cant access the dvd to backup and then shrink if necessary. Always had great quality in 8mins to 2 hours depending on size. my friends new machine does my 2hrz efforts in 30 mins pretty cool. shrink then burns the disk there and then if you have nero burning rom installed. all in all simple and good quality. i am impressed with larrylje's talk of this other program which i have not heard of. Not been doing it for a while but did go through a great mnay prgy's to find a nice one. a 67 inch tv WoW mega cool m8. i think he has a better chance of spotting the differnece with that. i would like to know more about this progy you talk about plz. Is it user friendly and does it burn. i am upgrading to a p4 3.2 (2 gig ram) very soon so look forward to speed speed speed, thats what we need, juicy good speed byeeeeeee
The program does not compare to DVD Shrink. Programs like DVD Shrink/Recode2/CloneDVD2 are transcoders. Where DVD-RB uses encoders. You can also set up DVD-RB to burn directly to disc using IMGBurn. If you need a question answered that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread then start another thread. 2nd if your asking someone to give you a registration number for the program then that is against the rules. Piracy or talking about cracking programs are against the rules. So to answer your question I would suggest getting in touch with the distributors of 1click dvd copy and ask them to send you your code again if you have bought the program. thanks for pointing that out larrylje i will browse through that guide when i have the time. always like to expand the knowledge base. especially if this program is better than what i accustomed to. thats some pretty in depth stuff there about what the older programs done. Since we're on the subject does anyone know what software is used in private sector for mass producing dvds. Seen as how these can replicate tens of thousands at perfect resolution. All the commercial software seems quite lame in comparison
here are my DVD programs! I agree with Larry that DVDRebuilder Pro w/CCE or ProCoder2 are the best for quality when you need compression. It does take a while since you are encoding and not transcoding! That's why the next best thing is AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 is great! It's fast, easy and does a great job. If compression quality goes below 80% then I use DVDRebuilder Pro! can't beat that for quality and speed.
