what is the best software, regarding image quality, for transcoding avi files for dvd video? I ask because i'm trying to keep the look of the video as nice as possible. my video files originated on an Ikegami HL-59 w/Beta SP recorder then transfered by using a digital Betacam via SDI into a DVCAM deck then via firewire into a mini dv deck so digital transfer all the way. this is because the system i'm editing on is dv in only. the show is mastered to mini dv and then is then being captured into nero from the mini dv master, for dvd encoding. for those that are interested to know, the mini dv transfer of the original SP footage looked great! also, i'm running nero on an amd 3200 64bit @ 2ghz w/1.5 ram and sata 0 hd. and yes the newer nero runs much smoother for chapter marking and editing, the older nero hangs, but hasn't crashed -yet.
I would try AVI2DVD it's available on this forum. here's a walkthrough for it. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm and here's where I found it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/40
