I recently pieced together a Frankenstein of an HTPC, nothing special but i like it alot. My monitor is 1680x1050 16:10 aspect ratio which i am sure you are all aware of, however the software included with my tv tuner doesnt support 16:10, so i have to change my resolution to 1280x720 to enjoy hd programs. I wish i could just install vista on this thing and you MC but thats a problem for another day. So, what the best tv tuner software Freeware or Pay...ware that supports 16:10 and has some other nifty features.
have you tried the demo of beyondtv, it's one of the best tv tuner software out there. Below is from there aspect ratio settings page. Aspect Ratio Sets the ratio of the width of the display in relation to its height. If this setting is incorrect, the picture will appear distorted The default aspect ratio of a televison screen or monitor is 4:3, so a setting of "Auto" should ensure proper playback in most cases. · Auto: The Viewscape will attempt to size the video appropriately. · Stretch: Stretches the video to fill the dimensions of the ViewScape window (if the ViewScape interface is windowed) or the screen (if the ViewScape interface is maximized) · 4:3: Forces the video into a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is appropriate for standard televisions and computer monitors. · 16:9: Forces the video into a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is appropriate for many plasma televisions. · Letterboxed: Pulls the top and bottom edges of the screen out so that they are not displayed. Use this option to get rid of black bars at the top and bottom of a screen. · Pillarboxed: Pulls the left and right edges of the screen out so that they are not displayed. Use this option to get rid of black bars at the left and right of a screen. · Zoom: Zooms in on the image; the net result is a combination of Letterboxed and Pillarboxed above.
