Right now I'm using Total Video Converter, and I'm mostly trying to convert .vob to .mp4, but I've noticed that it has a lot of distortions and just seems to lose a good bit of quality even when I keep it at dvd resolutions (that's 640x480 isn't it?). What program do you guys prefer for this sort of thing? Thanks.

P.S.: I'm using DVDfab to rip, then DVDshrink to "edit" the movie and to make it all in one file (dvdfab splits up movies), then Total Video Converter to convert if that helps.

ffmpeg wins every time.. Try avidemux if you need a pretty GUI for it.

I'm looking for maximum quality conservation really. Time isn't really a factor. I'll look into those programs you mentioned though; thanks for the input (although to be honest I was hoping to hear that there was a well excepted "best" even if it was expensive).

I'm sorry Joyy, I don't quite understand your question.
