I was wondering what version of Nero is the best to get. I remember reading somewhere that Nero 6 or 7 is the best. from what I read, Nero 8 and 9 do not seem that good. Which one is the best? Thanks
It really depends on your personal preference. Nero 6 is ancient, but stable. Nero 7 is getting old and stable. I've not used Nero 8 or Nero 9, but haven't seen bucketloads of negatives about them. It may take a while for them to get the bugs worked out of 9 and if they are releasing a new version already then I would assume 8 is getting buttoned up nicely. They should both have trial versions, give them a shot and decide for yourself. I would personally just go for freeware as you can get just as good if not better results than with payware.
You can get old versions here and there, usually at B&M stores at hugely discounted prices from time to time. @DHua Have a look here...there are many options other than Nero available. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/673257 What are you going to be doing?
See here for some old versions - http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=nero but as Loco said, there's some excellent freeware out there
The last two times that I tried getting older versions (e.g. Nero or Adobe Reader) from that site I was redirected to the software homepage with the only option of getting the latest version.
I just tried the same one also and it worked. I'll be darned. I got the installer for the Nero Burning ROM. I wonder if these versions of Nero are for the full Suites or the watered down versions Nero gives away when you buy a burner. If they're the "Ultra Suites" where's the serial key? If they're "cracked" how does that site get away with that? I know I didn't dream up that business about being redirected to the software homepage, but I don't know if I'll have time to investigate further today. Thanks for the mystery, Creaky.
Good stuff. You'd have to use your existing registration key, those downloads are just for getting hold of the software itself, they're legit versions (not sure of they're Ultra or whatever versions though).
I just got home and tried that oldversion website you mentioned. This time I tried Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5. It worked. It must be at least two years since I visited that site. Oh well, it works now and that's what matters.
I was going to throw a jab at Nero. Then I just happened to notice that Creaky refers to himself as "the Nero-Nator". Must be that "multiple recorder" setting, eh, Creaky?
