I have mcafee installed, but it just seems to keep missing alot of spyware..

My son plays video games and he tends to download alot a crap..lol.. Are there any free programs out there that anyone can recommend that will do the job.. over and above mcafee??

    Thanks in advance..

I'm more of a fan of the freeware route. I use AVG for anti-virus, SuperAntiSpyware for spyware scans, and use Comodo for my firewall. Tends to work for me, but you will see others have their own list of programs that they use.

One word "returnil" nothing will defeat this software. It's a last line of defense.

This is what I use on my computer
    1. zone alarm firewall
    2. avira free antivirus
    3. firefox 3.5 browser
    4. returnil (enabled everytime I'm on the internet)

I have no antispyware software installed because it slows me down to much. Nothing has ever defeated my system.

Another software that you might look at is "comodo time machine" also freeware. When you install it, it makes the original baseline snapshot of your c: drive. You can also make another snapshot just before you go on the internet or installed new drivers/software. If you get spyware/virus etc just go back to a clean snapshot. This is a great program if your installing programs/games that later give you problems.

I don't even bother trying to defeat all spyware/virus out there, there is no one perfect software. I instead rely on returnil to save me if anything slips through my antivirus/firewall.
