Hello all, I havent been on this site for a long time, but it has been very helpful to me in the past.

I have used DVDFab Decrypter, DVD X Copy, and also DVDFab Platinum to back up my DVDs... and all of them are probably the older versions of those programs.

I got some new DVDs, and I wish to back those up as well. Before I attempt to backup these DVDs using the programs (possibly outdated) that I already have, I would like to ask the experts what program(s) should I use to backup my new DVDs.

So what is the best way and best program(s) to use to backup newer DVDs?

It is recommend to always keep all your tools updated, regardless if it's "retail" or "free". There are tons of methods/ways to rip and burn DVDs if you know what you're doing. Some prefer retail engines (i.e. AnyDVD, DVDFAB Platinum, DVD Region+CSS Free), some prefer free tools.

The choice is your, either pay for AnyDVD or DVDFAB Platinum or simply use free tools like; RipIt4Me and DVDFAB Decrypter.

<<<<< 2 of the best FREE methods >>>>>

Get latest DVDFAB Decrypter here http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
    Get VobBlanker 2120B8 here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=903803#post903803

NOTE: all tools are FREE included in the guides. So just read and follow them carefully and you'll be able to rip and backup any DVDs around the world.

DVDFAB Decrypter +DVD Shrink + ImgBurn guide for newbies. Simply skip #2 VobBlanker, unless DVD Shrink has encountered an error and can not continue, or unless you're an advanced user and know where/what to delete/blank out.

Rip any DVDs with RipIt4Me +DVD Shrink + ImgBurn guide for newbies.

    Best of luck!!

thanks for the newby guide on how to backup dvds using ripit4me, dvd decrypter, fixvts, dvd shrink and imgbrn! However i was wondering if there was a way to speed the encoding process up and still keep the great picture/audio quality!! So are there other programs that i could use to achieve this task or what!! thanks again!

Simply use the FREE guide I'd posted above "DVDFAB + DVD Shrink + ImgBurn" an all FREE tools, follow all the steps carefully and you'll be able to "transcode and backup" any DVDs/movies.

Honestly, I would go with DVD Shrink instead, simply because DVD Shrink produce better quality, especially when there's a lot of compressions needed.

AnyDVD is good; it stands for its name, but I like it free and simple, so either DVDFAB Decrypter or RipIt4Me is good enough for me. All of my ripping tools are FREE, except my encoding engine; DVD-RB Pro. I've been using them for ages and I've never encountered any DVDs/movies that DVDFAB Decrypter or RipIt4Me can not handle.

However, the choice is yours -- we're entitled to our own judgment and preferences so use whatever you deemed that's the best fits your desire.

    Best of luck!!

There are a number of "best ways" depending on who you listen to. That which works for you is The Best Way, be it freeware or retail.
