Hi, guys. I just d/l Nero and would like to convert DVDs to VCDs. I haven't used the proggie before so could someone please give a walkthrough URL for how to make VCDs. I've looked through previous posts and some say use Nero Vision; some, Nero Burning ROM.

I tried to open both, but I didn't understand what to do. Thanks for your help!!

    Hi.
Burning ROM has a very nice wizard and is very easy to follow... Just pick the type of file you want to do and add your files...

Can i just say that Kvcd's are the way to go in that field? Have a look at this demo. That way you'll have a full film in a single CD with pretty much the same quality...

Permiggs, thanx for the reply. I got around to finally figuring out vision after d/l a help file off the net. But, the MPEG is too big to burn to my 700MB disc. And, there's nothing I can trim off to make it smaller. Are there any compression proggies that I could use to shrink the MPEG and then move it to VCD?

How big is your MPEG file? You might have to split it into 2 cd's...

Out of curiosity... Why do want to create VCD's? I used to do them many years ago... Then i moved onto Svcd's... Nowadays, i only use DVD's... In fact i converted most of my Svcd's into DVD's!

Permiggs, I have two MPEGS at 1gig each. The reason I don't burn to DVD is because I don't have a DVD RW or a standalone DVD player, just a DVD ROM. So, VCD does the trick for me.

    Gotcha!
So you need to split the Mpeg's... There's loads of alternatives... I'm always looking for new stuff to try out so i normally just go out searching for decent trials... ;) These are a few apps that i used to make my animated menus...

I got this on a trial, but i might actually 'aquire' it... It's pretty efective.

Easy Video Spliter - Have tried it, it's pretty simple to use as well and it comes with a handy guide... 7 day trial.

All Video Splitter - Another easy to use app...

MPEG Splitter - Simple tough not as good as the other ones...

Then you have my favorite: DVtool...

Why is it my favorite? It's free!!
