i have a whole bunch of avi files that are over 700mb and i was wondering how to compress them to make them fit on a cd so i could watch them using my dvd player. i am a total newbie and any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks.
When Makeing VCD"s out of AVI files it doesn"t Matter at all the Size of the AVI files ,Your AVI can be 700mb or 7000gb it doesn"t make any differance ,What Does Matter is the Length of the AVI files and the Bitrate you use to encode them to Mpeg1/VCD ..At standard VCD Bitrates you need about 10mb per minute of video ,so a 60 minute AVI file encoded to VCD would turn out to be about 600mb and Most all VCD"s will have to go on 2 CD-R"s...You will need an encoder Like Tmpgenc or Mainconcept encoder (Most others are Crap) and use it to encode your AVI files to Mpeg1/VCD and you can use it to cut your Mpeg1/VCD Files in Half so you can Burn it to CD-R useing something like Nero in Video-CD Burning Mode.....
