I have just begun burning dvds, and i need a bit of help. I have a dvd player that plays DVD+RW and i have a NEC DVD+RW ND 1100A writing drive for my pc. I have verbatim dvd+rw discs. Now, the problem is this. Burning to my media is working sometimes but not others. A while ago i ripped a disc using DVD shrink and saved it as an ISO file. I burnt it to DVD+RW today using DVD decrypter (after a bit of effort) and it works on my DVD player. I decided to make another disc using exactly the same media and the same method. I rip the dvd, save as an ISO, and burn it to disc using DVD Decrypter. It wont work in my dvd player. Also, when i put it in my pc again, it acts like there is no media on the disc. The DVD+RW that does work however, also gets the same response from the pc: Blank Media. So i am thinking I might have drive problems, or I am doing it worng or something. I would appreciate any help. Thankyou.
@ Yurihyuga what kind of answer is that, without explaining why. at least if Lestat11 makes a cock up whilst he is learning the ropes he can erase the disc and do a new burn without wasteing hard earned cash. @ Lestat11 hi and welcome to AD. do as creaky asks and post a log he's the man to help, if you don't know how to do this he will help you to do so
@Yurihyuga - check out the DVD media forum and the PS2 forum(s), very active forums indeed... plenty of posts for you to read thru there...
Yes DVD+r are good and can be used for PS2 games and movies. I have never used a -R yet. It dosent mean others have good luck with them. Just depends on the burrner and the standalone player you are using. So to say dont use +R disc is bad advice. You need to do some testing with both types if your burrner takes both -r and +r and find out which one works better for the systems you want to play them on. @Lestat11 My advice is get diffrent media. Just cause you get 1 good burn out of the same batch of DVDs dosent mean all the media is good. Bad media also includes inconsitency in burns. I have had media before where every other disc burnt good then the next burnt bad. Got diffrent media till I found media that worked best for me on a consitent bassis So try diffrent media before buying a new Burrnner.

@Lestat11 - - first of all, your burner's firmware is 2 revision behind (looks like you have a DELL OEM drive). You need 10GE from here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=301 Some food for thought for later, i remembered this - http://herrie.org/upgrdr.html - Basically you could upgrade your drive very slightly, by changing it into an NEC 1300A. This would allow you to burn to -R discs, but only at 4.0x for DVD-R and 2.0x for DVD-RW discs. But as your drive stands, it is only presently capable of burning to 4.0x DVD+R and 2.4x DVD+RW discs. But for now, update the firmware (make sure you pick the correct one!, [bold]10GE[/bold])
Thanks, I'll try that. I just downloaded Nero Infotool, and i noticed something. It says that my ASPI installation is corrupted which doesn't sound healthy. Does this mean anything?
@Lestat11 - yup, download and install 4.71 from here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm
I clicked on the link and downloaded it, it just comes up with zip, not winzip, i clicked unzip to the folder, is that it?
Hmmm, it's odd, it won't open with winzip so i extracted it to a folder, and that's all it does. I went into the folder and there are lots of different files. Usually when i open a file it will open in winzip and i can just install it.
It wasn't opening right with me so i installed it another way (run, browse, opened folder, opened .BAT, added XP32 to the end of the command and it installed) Ok, now Nero info tool says: WNASPI32.DLL Version 4.71 ASPI32.SYS Version 4.71 WINNASPI.DLL Version N/A So i think the last one might be the problem?
