just to make sense of your post. The green light won't come on but when you charge it the orange light comes on so how about trying to boot it while plugged in and no battery?

    Just means there is power.

Sounds like a problem with charging or most probably the battery

This isn't a software problem, it's a hardware one. It's either a dead battery or a blown power fuse (from what I can tell), do you get to the menue when you power it up without the battery in and connected to the charger?

You didn't try to upgrade it or messed with the flash or something? If not, it is no software problem, so a Pandora battery is useless for you. It is kind of hard to tell what exactly is defective, the PSP has been around since atleast 2005, so depending on how old yours is it could be everything, but also I don't think the battery is your problem.
If you messed with the flash or tried updating or anything I would try getting into recovery menue by keeping the right shoulder button pressed while powering it up, but I don't think it is a brick, normally with a brick the green light stays on.

Kind of astonishing the PSPs did last that long, they have been around since 2004/2005 and considering it is a Sony product...

Can you access the recovey menue? Press the right PSP shoulder button, keep it presse while switching the PSP on.
