Hi I'm a newbie at this & I need help. I need to know how to create bin/cue files from mpeg files. Also does anyone know how to create a cue file for an existing bin file?
Why do you want to make a cue and bin file for an mpeg? Just so you know it can't be done because a cue and bin file is a disk image.
I have a large mpeg that I am trying to put onto a cd, so that I can play it on a dvd player. I am using nero and when I put the mpeg onto the cd, it is not able to play on the dvd player. I was told that if I converted the mpeg into a bin/cue file I could use nero to burn the image file & this would be able to play on the dvd player. If there is another way to do this please let me know.
If you mpeg video is longer than 80mins. you need to check out Kvcd. If it is less then 80mins what you need to do is make a Vcd. First you should make sure your dvd player will play vcd's or svcd's. You can use a different program to create the image file of the disk as long as it creates Vcd's. There is a certain format every vcd has to have to work. Making a vcd with nero should be very simple. Just select the vcd project and add your video files. Then just burn as is.
The mpeg is longer than 80 mins. How do you make a KVCD and would you use Nero to burn it? Thanks for your help.
What you need for a KVCD is the kvcd templetes for Tmpgenc. Tmpgenc is a program that will convert between video types and formats. Once you've encoded the video file to Kvcd you'll use Nero to burn it as a regular vcd (you can't do this if your in express mode you need to be in rom). You need to disable the standard compliance option. From there just add your encoded video file and burn.

Only two more question, I am having a problem because some of the mpegs I have will not fit on to a disk, even though some of the ones that will fit on a disk appear to be larger. Do you know why this might be and is there any way that the mpeg's can be shrunk to fit on a disk? I have both 80 & 90 min disks and it does not seem to make a difference which one I use. Also do you know anything about avi's? I have a few avi's that I have tried to convert into mpegs using several avi converters, but I keep getting an error message stating that it "can't decode this file!" I have checked and the file plays ok on the pc but I am unable to convert it to anything other than AVI. In the folder with the avi there is another file, it is an SRT file and is named the same thing as the avi. I am unsure if this is relevant as I do not know what it does? If you have any thought on this matter please let me know. Thanks
The orignal size of the mpg shouldn't effect the amount of time you get on a vcd. With mpgs that don't fit on the cd there are two options you can either split the mpg or compress it. Kvcd it a type of compressed mpg. I don't really know how it works but it makes the mpgs really small and they work like a regular vcd when it done. Spliting is easy and there are a number of programs out there that will do it. I don't know that answer to why your avi's won't convert. I have had problems with avi conversion before but I just used my other converter and it worked fine. It is a possibility that you burning program isn't compadible with 90 min cds so it would indicate any change. Some burners may also conflict with the 90 min cds.
